A Round Lake Beach police officer was charged after he allegedly struck a woman in the face during an off-duty incident in Antioch, court records show. Jose R. Barrera, 31, of Antioch, was charged with one count of domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor.

A 44-year-old man is accused of walking into a bar on the Woodstock Square and pointing a loaded crossbow at a victim’s head Thursday evening. Luiz A. Carrion, 44, of Woodstock, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and disorderly conduct.

Authorities are warning the McHenry County community about fake missing person and missing dog posts circulating online in social media groups. The McHenry Police Department said Wednesday they have seen numerous Facebook posts that have been repeatedly shared on social media.

An unfounded report of a man with a gun prompted a large police response at a Buffalo Grove hotel but led officers to arrest a man for allegedly attacking his wife. A jury on Wednesday convicted a man of robbing an elderly man at knifepoint during a home invasion in Woodstock where he tried to steal over $30,000. Calvin D. Jackson, 28, of Rockford, was charged in February 2024 with home invasion, armed robbery, residential burglary, aggravated identity theft and aggravated assault.

Murder charges have been filed against an alleged gunman who prosecutors say walked up to a father of three in the parking lot of the Waukegan train station and fatally shot him “with no provocation.” The incident happened around 3:30 a.m. on July 7 at the Metra station, 95 North Spring Street in Waukegan.
