NRA Basic CCW is designed to teach the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential for avoiding dangerous confrontations and for the safe, effective, and responsible use of a concealed pistol for self-defense outside the home.
Note:Â This is a 2 days class.
Instructor Candidates demonstrate organizational and teaching skills via participation in practical exercises during the course and must pass a written instructor certification examination. Additionally, the instructor candidates must pass the CCW Instructor Level shooting qualification course on fire. The NRA CCW Instructor Course will focus on developing the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for Instructor Candidates to teach carrying and using a concealed pistol ethically, responsibly, and confidently. As a result of participating in this course, the Instructor Candidate will be able to explain and demonstrate the following: How to apply the NRA Rules for Safe Gun Handling when carrying a concealed firearm, basic principles of concealment, the difference between cover and concealment, drawing from the holster, levels of mental awareness, developing the proper mindset when using a pistol for personal defense, clearing common stoppages, and more. This course is only conducted by NRA Certified CCW Training Counselors.

Cost: $450
Class payment is due in full and is non-refundable, but transferable.

This class consists of 12 hours of classroom instruction and 4 hours of range time.

The NRA Instructor Pistol Shooting Course is the prerequisites for this class.

Any age may attend, but those under 18 must be accompanied by participating parent or guardian. Prospective students under 21 years of age please contact us at training@rdarms.com.
Pre-requisite: Must be a current Certified Pistol Instructor (or Advanced Certified Pistol Instructor) as a pre-requisite for certification as an NRA CCW instructor. This certification is not available to Apprentice or Assistant Pistol Instructors, and the Law Enforcement Division Handgun Instructor is not a substitute.. Mouseover the boxes for more info!

Is this a defensive shooting class?
Yes
Do I need a holster for the Basic Personal Protection Outside of the Home Course?
Yes, please bring your own holster.
Is this class mandated for a CCL permit?
No, but this class will actually teach you to defend yourself with a handgun.
Can I bring my own firearms?
Yes, please bring your firearm both to the classroom portion and range portion of the class.
Can I rent a firearm for this class?
This is an advanced class, and we expect the student to be very proficient with his/her firearm. Thus, rentals are not available for this class.
Is there shooting from cover and concealment in this class?
Yes
I have a concealed carry permit already, what benefits would I gain by taking this class?
Your concealed carry training and permit makes it legal for you to carry, but you probably are not ready to defend yourself in a violent encounter. This is a defensive shooting class and will actually teach the skills you need to defend yourself.
