Prosecutors say a man armed with a loaded gun at Scoop the Loop in Waukegan ran from officers when they were investigating him for touching a child at the event. Saul A. Cardenas, 21, of Beach Park, was charged with three counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, obstructing a peace officer and battery.

The Lake County coroner has released a dashboard to the public showing data and trends on homicides, overdose deaths and suicides in the county. Lake County Coroner Jennifer Banek announced the release of the Lake County Coroner’s Office Data Hub on Friday.

Two suspects armed with guns ran up to a victim who was exiting a home in Zion and ordered him to empty his pockets while threatening to shoot him, prosecutors said. Marcus Smith, 19, of Zion, and Trashaun King, 18, of Round Lake, were both charged with attempted armed robbery, a Class 1 felony.
