A SWAT team arrested two Lake County residents after federal authorities learned drugs were being mailed to Round Lake and investigators recovered a significant amount of narcotics. Lake County Assistant State’s Attorney Nicholas Shepherd said the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) in April developed information about a suspicious package being mailed out of Arizona to Wisconsin.

A suspicious package led to the response of a bomb squad and the evacuation of the Community Days festival in Mundelein Friday morning, authorities said. The Mundelein Police Department said a patron of Community Days alerted them to a suspicious package.

Three Lake County sheriff’s canines helped track down a missing person and aid in the arrest of four suspects in separate incidents over a three-day span, officials said. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office said Canine Axel was requested by the Vernon Hills Police Department to the 500 block of Townline Road around 2:50 p.m. Thursday.
