A SWAT team opened fire and shot a man, critically injuring him, after authorities say he took a woman hostage at knifepoint in a home in Round Lake Tuesday evening.

The Round Lake Police Department responded around 6:35 p.m. Tuesday to the 700 block of North Park Road in Round Lake for an unknown problem call.
