Two Boone County men have been charged with stealing a sheriff’s deputy’s badge, an AR-style rifle, jewelry and thousands of dollars in cash during a burglary at a residence near Marengo.
Scott T. Henrie, 34, of Poplar Grove, and Sean A. Fitzpatrick, 47, of Poplar Grove, were initially charged in April with residential burglary, theft from motor vehicle, aggravated unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle, unlawful possession of three or more stolen vehicles and theft over $100,000.
A grand jury recently additionally charged the two with possession of a stolen firearm. Fitzpatrick was also charged with felon in possession of a firearm.
A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County Circuit Court alleges Henrie and Fitzpatrick committed a residential burglary sometime on March 28 or March 29 in the 19000 block of Kishwaukee Valley Road in unincorporated Marengo.
The two unlawfully entered the residence with the intent to commit a theft, the complaint said.
They also allegedly stole a white 2022 Lexus LS 500 sedan, which has a base MSRP of $76,100.
A separate criminal complaint alleges Henrie and Fitzpatrick stole a 2018 John Deere Gator TS 4×2 along with an Imperial Trailer flatbed double axel trailer from the same victim.
A grand jury indictment said that a Rock River Arms AR-style rifle, a Cook County sheriff’s deputy’s badge, jewelry and $5,000 in cash were also taken during the burglary.
