A Lake County sheriff’s canine helped officers track down a gun that was ditched by a suspect who fled from officers in Vernon Hills early Wednesday.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office was requested with a canine around 1:40 a.m. Wednesday to assist in the 500 block of Townline Road in Vernon Hills.
