COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – The suspect in a brutal double shooting at the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs was confirmed to be a student at the University, according to Fox News. The outlet reported that Nicholas Jordan, 25, of Detroit, MI was placed under arrest Monday without incident.

Fox News reported that investigators of the Colorado Springs Police Department’s Motor Vehicle Theft Unit located Jordan shortly before 8:00 a.m. He was arrested as a suspect in the first-degree murder of 24-year-old Samuel Knopp and 26-year-old Celie Rain Montgomery. The two victims were found Friday morning at the Crestone House dormitory of the university, each dead from a gunshot wound to the head. Sources within the University confirmed that Jordan was enrolled as a student at the time. 

The Colorado Springs Police Department wrote in a Monday post to X, “On Monday morning, February 19, 2024, members of the Colorado Springs Police Department took a suspect into custody in connection to our investigation into the homicides on Friday, February 16, 2024, on the campus of the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (UCCS).”

The department added, “Investigative efforts continue to indicate this was an isolated incident between individuals who were known to one another and not a random attack against the school or other students at the university. More details about the suspect and charges will be provided at a future time.”

A report from The Daily Mail stated that Jordan is being held at the El Paso County Jail. The police department told reporters in a briefing, “At this point in our investigation, this incident does not appear to be a murder-suicide and both deaths are being investigated as homicides.”
