DEKALB, Ill. - Police at Northern Illinois University are investigating an "unverified bomb threat and active shooter threat" Monday morning at Barsema Hall. Campus police sent out a safety alert just before 8 a.m., saying a heavy police presence was growing near Barsema Hall at 740 Garden Road.

NILES, Ill. — A homicide investigation is underway after a man was shot and killed in Niles. According to police, officers reponded to a report of a man down in the area of Harlem Avenue and Chase Avenue around 9:08 p.m. Sunday.

The sheriff’s office says they have tracked down and arrested a man wanted for sexually assaulting a 6-year-old child while the two lived together in Beach Park.
