CHICAGO — Frank Mixon couldn’t believe what he was hearing when the sound of gunfire startled him awake. Outside his bedroom, he couldn’t believe what he was seeing: five family members shot, his mother among them. “I just woke up and saw a massacre of everything,” Mixon said. “Very vivid to see everything.”

CHICAGO — A man was wounded Thursday when someone entered his North Side home and stabbed him multiple times. Police said the 26-year-old man was in his home in the 2000 block of North Clifton in the city’s Lincoln Park neighborhood around 11:30 p.m. when someone broke into the residence.

CHICAGO — A 7-year-old boy was shot and killed on Chicago’s Near West Side Tuesday, a victim of what police called “random gunfire.” The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as Jai’mani Amir Rivera.

CHICAGO – A Northwest Side resident stopped a burglary Thursday afternoon by hitting the alleged suspect with a cast iron frying pan. According to the homeowner, Jason Williams, he received a call from his alarm company just after 3 p.m. as he was already on his way home, notifying him of a front door alarm.

CHICAGO — A man and a woman were killed after a shootout near 31st Street Harbor overnight, according to Chicago police. The shooting happened around 3:15 a.m. Friday in the 3100 block of South Lake Shore Drive.
