A judge denied release for a Round Lake Beach man who said “I thought I killed her” after being surprised to learn his girlfriend, who he allegedly critically injured in an attack, was still alive following his arrest.

Lake County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Chief Christopher Covelli said Sanjuan Reyes, 36, of Round Lake Beach, drove to a relative’s home in Joliet early Saturday morning.
