An Idaho road-rage motorist who shot another driver last year after being flipped off has been sentenced to at least 10 years in prison, KTVB-TV reported.
What are the details?
Rolando Castillo, 42, followed another driver and fired a gunshot into that driver’s vehicle on July 13, 2022, striking the driver in his shoulder and hand, the station said.
The Canyon County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office said the victim gave the finger to Castillo after Castillo ran a stop sign in Nampa, KTVB said.
The wounded driver went home, called 911, and was treated at a hospital, the station said.
Canyon County deputies arrested Castillo a short time later after deputies found his vehicle near Karcher Road and Caldwell Boulevard, KTVB said.
Following a short pursuit, one of the deputies shot Castillo “after he aggressively exited the vehicle,” the station said, citing the prosecutor’s office.
Castillo also was in possession of a stolen gun and was prohibited from having a gun because of prior felony convictions, KTVB said.
Judge Randall S. Grove on Tuesday sentenced Castillo to 20 years in prison for aggravated battery and unlawful possession of a firearm, amounting to five-year fixed sentences for each count, plus an indeterminate sentence of 10 years on the aggravated battery count, the station said.
