ROCKVILLE, MD - A Rockville high school student's arrest on April 17, 2024, for allegedly planning a school shooting has brought to light significant concerns regarding mental health, school safety, and the efficacy of early intervention strategies.

A woman was killed during an on-campus shooting at Delaware State University over the weekend, and a manhunt for the suspect or suspects is underway. The victim is an 18-year-old woman, who hasn't been identified yet. She wasn't a registered student, according to a statement by the school president.

A 16-year-old suspect accused of shoving a grandmother down a flight of church steps and rummaging through her purse was arrested Thursday, the NYPD said.  The victim, who was identified by her family as 68-year-old Irene Tahliambouris, was pushed so hard that she went airborne and landed flat on her back, security video shows.
