According to police, the 73-year-old man, who police say is a retired CPD officer, was in the 4300 block of West Monroe Street in the city’s Garfield Park neighborhood around 11:30 a.m. when was shot. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the body.

He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to police.
