Multiple people were shot Wednesday at a parade in Kansas City, Missouri, while celebrating the Kansas City Chief’s Super Bowl win.

Following the shooting incident, the Kansas City Police Department released a statement on Twitter saying, “Shots have been fired around Union Station. Please leave the area.”

Following the shooting incident, Governor Laura Kelly (D-Kan.) released a statement on X, formerly Twitter, saying, “At the end of the Chiefs rally, shots were fired near Union Station. I have been evacuated and am out of harm’s way. I encourage everyone to follow instructions and updates from @kcpolice. Please stay safe.”

Drue Tranquill, a Chiefs’ linebacker, encouraged people on social media to join him in prayer for the victims of the “heinous act” that took place on Wednesday. He tweeted, “Pray that doctors & first responders would have steady hands & that all would experience full healing.”

Patrick Mahomes, the quarterback for the Chiefs, also tweeted that he was “praying for Kansas City.”
