On the morning of March 1, a 29-year-old man allegedly broke into a home in El Paso, Texas, and shot a dog. A 37-year-old resident returned fire before the perpetrator could do more after which the suspect fled. He was found at a nearby intersection yelling for help and saying that he had been shot, whereupon he was transported to a local hospital. Police intended to charge the home invader with burglary of habitation once he was released from the hospital. The residents of the home were uninjured; the condition of the wounded dog was unknown.
