Skills and Drills: Drawing from the Holster

Our holster draw class is designed to sharpen your ability to quickly and accurately draw from a holster, whether you’re new to concealed carry or have years of experience. While you don’t need to be a graduate of our CCL program, this class is perfect for CCL holders looking to refine their skills. It’s built around real-world scenarios that challenge and develop your holster draw techniques. The best part? This class can be taken over and over again. Each session offers new drills and learning opportunities, allowing you to continuously improve.

Concealed Cover Garments: Dressing for Practicality

One of the key focuses of our holster draw practice is working with concealed cover garments. Your choice of clothing can significantly impact your ability to draw quickly, and this class ensures you understand how different garments function in concealed carry situations. We’ll cover:

  • Type Garments: Center-open jackets, zip-ups, or button-down shirts that allow easy access to your holster.
  • Pull-Up Garments: Hoodies, sweatshirts, or untucked shirts that require lifting for access.
Throughout the class, you’ll practice manipulating these garments as part of your draw. Understanding how to work with your clothing is crucial for real-world preparedness. Testing different garments during each class allows you to refine your technique and adapt to various clothing options.

Safety First: Perfecting the Draw

Safety is at the core of every class we teach, especially when drawing from the holster. To ensure your success, we stress the following steps for a safe, smooth draw:

  • Establish a Strong Grip: A proper grip is essential before the firearm leaves the holster.
  • Finger Discipline: Keep your finger off the trigger until you’ve acquired your target.
  • Muzzle Awareness: Always be aware of where your muzzle is pointing during the entire process.
  • Slow, Safe Holstering: When reholstering, do so slowly and deliberately to prevent accidents.

Practicing these steps repeatedly helps develop muscle memory and builds confidence. Each time you take the class, you reinforce these fundamental safety protocols, making them second nature.

Holster Draw Drills: Speed, Accuracy, and Gear Testing

This class features a range of holster draw drills designed to test and improve your skills in speed and accuracy. Each session introduces new challenges, making it a valuable experience every time you take the class. You’ll participate in:

  • Timed Drills: Measure and improve your draw speed with instant feedback using a timer. See how quickly you can draw, aim, and fire.
  • Accuracy Drills: Fine-tune your ability to acquire a target and deliver accurate shots under pressure.
  • Gear Testing: This is a great opportunity to test your holster, firearm, and clothing setup in a safe, controlled environment. Each session allows you to evaluate and adjust your gear as needed for better performance.

The variety of drills ensures you get the most out of every class, and by repeating the course, you’ll continue to see your skills progress over time.

A Dynamic and Repeatable Experience

Our holster draw class is dynamic, with drills and exercises that evolve with each session. Because we tailor the class based on the caliber and skill level of students, you’ll always face new challenges, making this a class you can take multiple times to continually improve. It’s not only educational but a lot of fun! From testing your draw speed on a timer to refining your accuracy, every time you come back, you’ll push yourself to new heights. Each time you take the class, you’ll notice real improvements, making it a perfect addition to your regular training routine.
