8 Hour NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Class
Full Description:  This class is 8-hours long and includes seven hours of classroom instruction and one hour of range time learning to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; pistol parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules, and two handed standing positions; cleaning the pistol; and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet and other firearms safety information. Students will take a Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Examination, firing range aptitude test and will receive a class completion certificate. This class meets the requirements for the first 8 hours of Illinois Concealed Carry as well as the requirements for the State of Florida non-resident concealed carry permit. Information in regards to the Florida non-resident permit will be provided.

This class is 8 hours, 7 hours of classroom instruction and 1 hour of range time.
Prerequisites: None
No prerequisite, but students new to firearms would benefit from the Introduction to Pistols class.

This class teaches the basic knowledge, skills and attitude necessary for owning and operating a pistol safely.

Any age may attend, but those under 18 must be accompanied by participating parent or guardian. Prospective students under 21 years of age please contact us at training@rdarms.com.

Can I bring my own firearm to this class?
Yes, we encourage you to bring your own firearm to this class.
Can I take this class if I do not own a firearm?
Yes, you can rent a firearm for this class. The firearm rental is $10. You will also need to purchase 100 rounds of ammunition.
Where does the shooting take place for this class?
The shooting portion takes place OUTSIDE about 15 mins from RDA.
Do I need a holster for this class?
No. There is no holster work in this class.
Is this a defensive pistol shooting class?
No, this class is not a defensive shooting class. This is a basic pistol shooting class.
Is this class taught only on weekends?
We sometimes offer this class during the week, every 3-4 months. This class mostly takes place on the weekends.

FOID Statement: Illinois residents that will be TRANSPORTING their own firearm to and from the class/range must be in possession of a valid FOID/CCL card, and be of legal age, 21 for handguns, and 18 for long guns. A FOID card is not required to participate in the class. Out of state residents need to follow the age requirements and have a valid ID.
